Director, Finance and Budget

The Director, Finance and Budget serves as the senior business officer for Research & Innovation (R & I) and is a member of the Vice President of Research and Innovation (VPRI) senior leadership team reporting directly to the VPRI. The Director is responsible for leading the financial planning, budget, and analysis, corporate administration, start-up package support, and sustainable growth of research and entrepreneurial endeavors functions for VPRI with a budget totaling $61 million. The Director is accountable for overseeing financial planning, budget development, and implementation, policy formulation and organizational sustainability. This position is tasked with resource allocation and ensuring the implementation of procedural systems that foster the growth, efficiency, and financial strength of the division. This position is responsible for the financial management of the Nevada Research and Innovation Corporation (NVRIC), which includes being the subject matter expert in preparing quarterly consolidated financial statements, understanding fiscal matters related to intellectual property, license agreements and royalties and general accounting for NVRIC. The Director assumes the role of internal and external liaison, engaging with key partners to enhance and represent Research and Innovation goals and provide strategic fiscal leadership in collaboration with the VPRI.   

Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree and five (5) years of related experience OR Master’s Degree and three (3) years of related experience.

Related Experience: Accounting, financial analysis, corporate fiscal management, training and strategic planning or related professional work experience.
