Controller

Under direction of the Director of Finance, performs high-level administrative/technical accounting, & financial reporting in support of the District’s operations, cash management, capital asset & debt administration. Responsible for the overall integrity of the District’s general ledger, internal/external financial reports, & compliance documents; regularly supports preparations of reports & presentations for the Board of Trustees. Requires: Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) in Accounting; & six years related experience with automated financial/accounting systems, plus Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or MBA or equivalent combination. Two years public sector experience preferred. Excellent organizational, analytical, interpersonal, and customer service skills. Effectively respond to inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, members of the community & Board of Trustees; including presenting information in an understandable manner. Strong computer skills for Microsoft Office, database & financial accounting applications. Able to develop, mentor & supervise staff, while directing & evaluating work. Effectively work under pressure of deadlines & organize priorities to meet conflicting demands. Use initiative & independent judgement to maintain status of on-going projects. Establish, foster, & maintain effective working relationships with individuals & groups. Possess a valid Driver’s License. Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices,& methods of current public sector accounting, auditing & budgeting methods; principles & practices of leadership, management and supervision.
