This is important news advising that the IRS ldentity Protection Personal Identification Number (IPPIN) for 2018 tax returns is now available for opt-in for California and Nevada taxpayers (and select other states) who filed their 2017 tax return in one of the eligible states. Previously, it was available for use by only identify theft victims in California and Nevada.
Requesting an IP PIN is strictly voluntary. If you choose not to participate in the program by not requesting an IP PIN, you can file your return as you would normally. Click here for more information.
