IRS Criminal Investigation Issues
SSA Ron Loecker will provide a unique insight into tax evasion and money laundering schemes and how IRS CI Special Agents conduct their investigations. SSA Loecker will have an interactive discussion on the history of IRS CI and some of IRS CI’s most notorious capers. SSA Loecker will discuss the differences between a criminal tax investigation and a civil audit and will outline a typical interaction between return preparers and internal accounting staff with IRS CI Special Agents ensuring you know what to expect when federal agents come knocking on your door.

Ron Loecker is a Supervisory Special Agent with IRS Criminal Investigation, Las Vegas Field Office. As such, he supervises a group of investigators working criminal tax and money laundering investigations involving a wide variety of criminal activity including tax evasion, public corruption, organized crime, general fraud schemes, as well as violations of the Bank Secrecy Act. Additionally, SSA Loecker supervises the Financial Crimes Task Force whose mission is to review Bank Secrecy Act data to initiate financial criminal investigations. The FCTF is comprised of IRS CI Special Agents as well as Task Force Officers from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the Henderson Police Department, the Nevada Attorney General’s Office, and the Nevada Gaming Control Board.
Prior to stepping into a managerial role, SSA Loecker was a Special Agent with IRS CI for 13 years, where he worked in Dallas, Texas; St. Croix, US Virgin Islands; and finally Denver, Colorado. Beyond working tax fraud cases, SSA Loecker has also worked a variety of financial fraud investigations involving Investment Fraud (Ponzi Schemes), Public Corruption, Terrorism, Insurance Fraud, ID Theft, and Bank Secrecy Act violations.
