January 2017 Reno Chapter Meeting

Description:

Reno Chapter of the Nevada Society of CPA's Proudly Presents:

Topic: Hot Topics At The Intersection of Accounting and Employment Law

Questionable employer payroll practices. Independent contractors versus employees. Fraud and whistleblower issues. CPAs face numerous challenges that cross into the realm of employment law. Please join us as our keynote speaker, Anthony Hall, partner at Holland & Hart LLP, explores the hot topics in today’s employment and legal environment that every CPA should know about, including:

  • When workers may be treated as independent contractors (there are at least 4 different definitions that you should be aware of)
  • Handling unique wage and hour issues, such as tracking hours for remote workers and classification issues
  • What to do if you, your client, or a whistleblower suspects fraud

Anthony will offer practical guidance so that you’ll leave knowing the right questions to ask, and the appropriate ways to address these tricky issues.
