Northern Nevada Chapter& The Association of Finance Professionals
of Northern Nevada. It will be held on Wednesday, March 21, 2012 and will feature a presentation by Terri Janison, Regional Director Governor's Office of Economic Development. She will be discussing Nevada's Economic Future.
The next Las Vegas Chapter Meeting will take place Thursday, March 22, 2012 at Lawry's The Prime Rib. The topic of the meeting will be "The Living Balance Sheet for Business Owners" and will be presented by Richard A. Pope, CAP, RFC President & CEO, Applied Financial Group.
The NVCPA will be producing its 34th Annual Gaming Conference in May 22-23, 2012. Regarded as one of the most prestigious conferences in the Gaming Industry, this year’s theme, “interactive.innovative.informative.”, is focused on ways, ideas, and practices that are being developed to change the gaming industry in the more technologically social environment.

On January 19, 2012 the NVCPA hosted the MAP meeting in Las Vegas, NV. The meeting took place from 2:30 to 5 pm and featured two topics. Paul Cohen was the first presenter and covered Healthcare Reform with a presentation entitled "Everything You Need to Know and Were Afraid to Ask". The second to present was Christian Gianni from Boyce & Gianni, LLP who covered Nevada's 2011 Legislative Session with a presentation entitled "How Trusts, Estates and Business Entities Have Been Impacted".

Tuesday, January 17, 2012 Chris Footit of the IRS spoke at the Western Nevada Meeting in Carson City, NV. The meeting took place from 2:30-5:00 pm at the Carson Nugget Casino. Footit's presentation covered multiple topics including "Identity Theft & Phishing", "Fresh Start Initiative", and an "IRS Update". Some attendees admitted that at the before they arrived at the event they were worried it would be boring, however, Footit presented well and gave extensive time between each topic to answer questions or concerns attendees might have had. Footit gave a similar presentation at the Reno Chapter Meeting January 18, 2012 where her succeeding presenter started his presentation congratulating her on being one of the most interesting and entertaining IRS presenters he'd ever seen.
Chaired by Mike Bosma of The Bosma Group, P.C., the Northern Nevada golf tournament was held on Friday, September 23rd at ArrowCreek Country Club. The tournament had 36 golfers and six local firms were represented. With the support of our teams and sponsors, the tournament was able to raise approximately $800 to be given to the Nevada CPA Foundation for Education and Research.
It was a great day for golf in Las Vegas on Wednesday, October 19th at the Siena Golf Club. With several sponsors and 54 golfers, the tournament was able to raise approximately $2500 for the Nevada CPA Foundation for Education and Research. Thank you to our 2011 Chairman, Bob Anderson of Holland & Hart and the remaining committee members for their work towards a successful tournament.
The Nevada Society of CPAs hosted the 3rd Annual Southwest Tax conference on December 6th & 7th once again at the Bellagio in Las Vegas. Chaired by Robert Brome of TriCor Tax and Accounting, the Conference was attended by over 50 individuals, coming from various locations in the Western United States. Attendees enjoyed listening to a variety of topics including IRS Updates, Money Laundering & Title 31, Circular 230, tax (corporate / individual / partnerships) updates and much more. ...
On December 15, 2011 the NVCPAs Young Professionals Initiative hosted a Holiday Mix and Mingle at Stoney's in Las Vegas.
