On August 27th, 2010, the Nevada Society of Certified Public Accountants will be hosting the Fifth Annual Northern Nevada Golf Tournament at the Arrowcreek Country Club. The proceeds from this event are used to help fund The Nevada CPA Foundation for Education and Research, which provides scholarship assistance for students in Nevada colleges and universities. Overall, since 1970 the Foundation has awarded over $500,000 in scholarships and grants to further the success of our college students in Nevada.
This is a fun event for you and your staff!
This year’s golf tournament has been planned on a Friday to allow you and your staff to kick off the weekend in a fun way. Bring your staff and treat them to a fantastic day of golf, food, and networking, while at the same time building camaraderie. At the end of the golf tournament your team will have a chance to win several prizes at the closing ceremony where we will have hosted house wines and hors d'oeuvres. So bring your staff, potential and current clients, and friends to enjoy a day of golf while supporting a great cause!
Playing Format: String Tournament
All players will have the opportunity to purchase string prior to the round's start at $1/ft or $20 for 25ft. The string can be used at any time during the round by a player who wants to improve his lie and can be used for putts.
Example: Your ball is sitting down in heavy rough, but if you could move it just one foot, you'd have a great lie. OK, take out your length of string, string it out in the direction you want to move the ball. If the string reaches the point where you'd like to place your ball, you can move the ball.
The catch is that each time you use your string, you must cut off the amount of string corresponding to the distance your ball was moved. Move your ball six inches to get out of a bunker, cut six inches off your string (a ball can be moved out of any hazard other than a water hazard).
The string can be used at any time, but, obviously, must be used judiciously or it runs out pretty quickly.

Everyone who wants to support the Nevada CPA Foundation for Education and Research is encouraged to play in our fun-filled event, even if you are not a member. This event features refreshments, tee prizes, great contests and a chance to win fantastic prizes.
